India

Indian dance is closely tied to Hinduism. Indeed, the main text for dance is the Natya Veda, the fifth Veda (or holy scripture), said to have been created by the God Brahma himself. The dances include two aspects: nritta and nritya. Nritta is the technical aspect of the dance, perfecting the steps and mudras (small, exacting hand movements). Nritya is the story-telling and emotional aspect, involving eye movements, poses and small muscle movements that enable both the dancer and audience to experience the emotion of the story.

Pictures & Articles

Some of these have interesting articles, and others I included only for the pictures - those might be for event listings, etc., but the pictures are nice.
